I Want To Fly Like An Eagle…

A spirit animal or totem is meant to be a representation of the traits and skills that you are supposed to learn or have. Online, saying something or someone is your spirit animal is a statement that said person or thing is a representation of you or what you want to be.

I can connect or relate on an emotional level to many animals and birds. I love polar bears and flamingos and grizzly bears. I love birds and feed them year round at my home. I have always appreciated and admired the Bald Eagle. Last year my oldest granddaughter and I were heading our for weekly breakfast date, we always take the long way to the restaurant, via back roads. A sudden “swope” on the right hand side of the road captured my attention and to my immense surprise and delight, there was a Bald Eagle on the ground, very close to the road. He immediately began to ascend, his massive wings, cranked up to warp speed and flew to the safety of a nearby tree. Mackenna and I sat, enthralled for several minutes as we stared at the Eagle and he stared back at us.

This past week we were boating and saw not one, but two Bald Eagles flying in the sky.

I have always wondered how grand it must feel, to be an Eagle or bird and be able to soar high above the ground and have the wind beneath your wings. Oh, to be able to dart and dive and twist and turn and be one with the sky.

I think the Steve Miller Band said it best:

Time keeps on slippin', slippin', slippin'

Into the future

I want to fly like an eagle
To the sea
Fly like an eagle
Let my spirit carry me
I want to fly like an eagle
'Till I'm free
Oh, Lord, through the revolution

Feed the babies
Who don't have enough to eat
Shoe the children
With no shoes on their feet
House the people
Livin' in the street

Oh, oh, there's a solution
