Why Worship God?

When one is told to worship God it is only reasonable that he/she ask, “Why?” This is not a new question. Even Pharaoh in the Old Testament asked, “Who is the Lord that I should obey His voice?”

There are four answers to that question. God is our Maker. Some people think they came from a lower form of life. This is heathenism. A man with the right intelligence knows there must be a mastermind behind the world and all that is within it.

When God made man, he was a corpus. All the functions of his body were there, but they were lifeless until God breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, the man became a living soul. We should worship Him because is our Maker and Creator.

The second reason we should worship God is because He is our Defender. He defends us against the approaches of Satan. He defends us against diseases. When He made man, God instilled in him combative forces that ward off physical harm, danger and death.

Thirdly, He is our Redeemer. When we fell into the depths of sin, He redeemed us by the death of His Son.

Finally, He is our Friend. “What a friend we have in Jesus.”
