W.W. Transport Begins New Chapter As Part Of The McCoy Group, Inc.

December 2021

For over two decades, W.W. Transport, Inc. has been a fixture in the liquid and dry bulk food-grade hauling industry as an award-winning carrier.

In 1991, W.W. Transport began its operations with two trucks and a regional hauling route. Since then, it has grown to become a national company, with nearly 500 units and operations in the United States stretching from the East Coast to Utah.

W.W. Transport is recognized as an industry leader, with one of the nation’s few tank wash facilities optimized to meet the high standards required to ensure the integrity of flour from the time it leaves the mill until it is delivered to customers. In addition to flour, the W.W. Transport team also specializes in transporting sugar, oil, starch, as well as other related commodities.

Over the years, the W.W. Transport has been chosen as the house carrier for multiple mills due to its successful track record of dependability and timely service. The organization has earned several “carrier of the year” awards from various customers.

A new chapter in W.W. Transport’s history was written in late 2020 when the organization was acquired by the McCoy Group, Inc., a transportation industry leader based in Dubuque, Iowa. The McCoy Group’s portfolio of companies also includes carriers Foodliner® and Quest Liner™, which together have been named as one of the nation’s top-100 for-hire transport carriers since 2014. Meanwhile, Truck Country and Stoops Freightliner-Quality, one of the nation’s leading Freightliner dealership groups, as well as McCoy Construction & Forestry, a top-selling John Deere construction and forestry equipment dealer, fall under the umbrella of McCoy Group-owned companies.

“Over the years, the McCoy Group has viewed W.W. Transport as a good and healthy competitor,” McCoy Group President and CEO Greg McCoy said at the time of the acquisition. “Their dedication to providing excellent customer service, as well as their culture of honesty, quality, integrity and innovation mirrors the values we are committed to here at the McCoy Group. We are excited by the possibilities this new chapter brings for our customers, teammates, W.W. Transport and the entire McCoy Group family.”

The McCoy Group, which was founded by Robert McCoy in 1958 in southwestern Wisconsin. A man with an entrepreneurial spirit, McCoy launched the organization when he started a one-truck milk hauling business to supplement his income as a cheesemaker.

Today, the McCoy Group remains a family-owned organization, now with members of the third generation of the McCoy family serving as owners.
