Renewal Is Necessity

A great preacher told of a sacred experience. He heard an Irish preacher preaching on Naaman, the leper. The preacher and the message were both lifeless and very dry.

He spoke to his companion who was listening with him and said, “Our brother who is preaching needs a fresh dip in the Jordan.” Some people call the fresh dip “renewal” – others call it “revival.” Put any label or tag you want onto it, the necessity of it is the important thing.

“Revive thy work in the midst of the years. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation. Give us new fire. Give us newness of life.”

All of these experiences are heard day in and day out. The only thing absent is the experience. Thanks be unto God, it is possible to have the fire rekindled. It is possible to have a renewed experience and to be brought back into line and full power with the Lord. Now this does not come by reading books or by listening to lectures and sermons. It comes as one draws near to God, living under the promise if we draw near to God, He will draw near unto us. Then there is the other promise, “Ye shall find me when you seek for me with all your heart.”

I wonder – is your life a glow or just a cinder from what you used to be? Renew your experience with the Lord. Send time in prayer and Bible study.
