Jeff Salce

No matter where you're at out on the highway, when a little red sports car passes you it always seems to make you look. Whether it’s a Corvette, Mustang, or Camaro, it will definitely make heads turn.

Jeff Salce's Peterbilt has the same affect on people thanks to its perfect combination of hot rod red paint and gleaming chrome trim! You might just say his truck is a "little red Corvette" on steroids! Jeff always loved trucks as a young boy and his dream was to own his own truck someday.

After attending the U.S. Diesel Truck Nationals in Englishtown, NJ and seeing Mike Bunning's fleet out of CT, Jeff went to get his CDL. He got his license and started working for Mike and eventually bought his first truck when he was 28. He ran the roads with his first Peterbilt but unfortunately had to sell it. Jeff was still determined to live out his dreams of owning his own truck and wound up buying a used Freightliner and hauling with it until he was able to purchase the 2004 Peterbilt 379 that he owns today.

This red beauty didn't look like it does now when Jeff bought it. The truck had been hit on the right front and Jeff had to basically rebuild the hood. He then sent it up to Coastal Truck & Auto Body in NH to have them paint it, stretch the frame, and put on the custom, "pleated" deck plate. Jeff then took the truck home and put it back together himself. This is one Peterbilt that stands out in a crowd thanks to the Midwest drop visor, chopped & strapless air cleaners, a smooth, boltless 20" custom bumper, and a 4 State Trucks custom rear light bar & light panel.

Jeff also added a Horst air-ride front axle to give the truck the stance he wanted, along with a set of 8" Dynaflex straight pipes with a full 8" y pipe. Jeff runs hard with his red beauty hauling 2 loads a day from CT to Boston on the Massachusetts Turnpike. He works for a sawmill hauling lumber, flooring, and logs that get exported to China. The truck runs as good as it looks thanks to the 525 CAT engine that's been upgraded with a PDI kit. The 300" wheelbase is custom from front to back and Jeff draws plenty of attention no matter where he goes! After 17 years on the road, Jeff Salce is definitely "living his dream' and looking good doing it! In fact, his big red Peterbilt probably gets more stares out on the highway than the little red sports cars do.

Movin' Out salutes Jeff Salce this month for all of his hard work and determination. His red beauty definitely evokes thoughts of driving on a hot Summer night with the windows rolled down and the radio up load- something to look forward to as we shift gears and drive thru another hard Winter!
