Bitterness Must Be Put Aside By God’s People

The world is filed with bitter people. Sometimes bitterness comes because of disappointment. At other times, it comes because of mistreatment. Too frequently, bitterness is in the picture because of the lack of self-confidence.

The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of the low price is forgotten. This is another way of saying, “You get what you pay for.”

Someone walked up to a preacher one day and said, “Preacher, I’d give the world if I could be like you.” The preacher thought for a moment and replied, “Sir, that is exactly what it cost me to be like this.”

If a man is going to be God’s man, he must have confidence in God. He must believe in his fellow man and then he must have self-confidence. When we have these, our bitterness is dispelled and put aside. I can’t remember anywhere of ever having read that a man was made better because he was bitter. I’ve received some bitter letters in my day. I have seen some bitter experiences, but thanks be unto God, there is such a thing as “bittersweet.” You can mix sweetness with bitterness.
