With Spring in full gear and summer fast approaching, some of you may be thinking about tackling those home improvement projects that you've been putting off for so long.  Some projects are more involved than others and may require some type of concrete work.  A new sidewalk, a new patio, or footings for that deck you've been dreaming of are just a few where you may see this month's Working Show Truck.

This bright red 2005 Peterbilt 335 is owned and operated by Mike Hauer who runs Concrete Quick, LLC out of West Greenwich, RI.  Mike has been driving trucks since he was 18 and has been in the concrete field since 1998.  His Peterbilt is outfitted with an Elkin volumetric mobile concrete mixer body that produces about 3 yards of concrete for any given job.  Mike tries to compliment the bigger concrete companies by doing smaller jobs that they can't take time to do.  With his truck he's also able to get into many tight spots that bigger trucks might have trouble getting into. 

Mike's Pete is powered by a 315 Cummins engine and the truck has a locking differential and an air ride suspension.  Perhaps the most unique feature is the truck's transmission, which is an Allison automatic.  This allows Mike to get in and out of virtually any location with ease.  The truck works every day in the months when concrete can be poured in the northeast and it has 54,000 miles on it.  In fact, the truck worked the morning of our photo shoot and then came back to the garage for Mike to give it a quick cleaning.

The key to Mike's success is his outstanding service and flexibility.  He may have to work in the middle of the night or on weekends to keep a job moving ahead on schedule but that's just part of the concrete business.  This Peterbilt is a real working truck and has produced over 4,000 cubic yards of concrete since Mike got it.  The bright red paint is accented by yellow flames and lettering.  Polished accessories include the visor, front bumper, grille surround, and rims.  This is a work truck that Mike takes a great deal of pride in.  It always gets a good wash between pours and is looking its best on the jobsites as a result.
