Working Show Truck Of The Month -Ryan Maston
|
| By Robert Conrad As 2011 rolls into July, summer is in full swing and those sun-drenched days that we wished for in the cold, grey winter months are our reward for the time being. This month's Working Show Truck might just make you think of a warm summer day thanks to its bright yellow paint job that's accented with just the right amount of chrome bling! This sharp looking 2006 KW W-900 L is owned and operated by Ryan Maston who runs RB Maston & Sons Trucking out of Pawtucket, RI. At only 38 years old, Ryan has already been trucking for half of his life. He had trucking in his blood thanks to his dad whom he credits for teaching him all aspects of the trucking business. Ryan hauls a propane tanker in the winter months and pulls flatbeds in the summer with his shiny, yellow KW. The truck is a classic example of the "less is more" school of thought when it comes to building a working show truck. The smooth lines have been accented with just enough custom touches to make this KW stand out in a crowd. Ryan's KW features a square "Texas" bumper and extra grille bars up front. The fuel tanks are painted to match the cab and have polished straps. Also there is a custom dual exhaust system and polished full fenders over the rear wheels. The truck's interior is accented with various chrome and stainless trim pieces and has a chromed steering column. There is plenty of "go" to accompany the "show" aspect of Ryan's truck thanks to a 475 ISX Cummins engine that's paired with a 13-speed transmission and a set of 3:55 rears. In his 19 years on the road, Ryan has learned that you have to always respect what you're hauling. He said that his most memorable experience came while driving for the first time in the winter. While having to make a sudden stop in slippery conditions, the gas trailer he was hauling began to come around on him. Fortunately, he let off of the brakes in time and the trailer straightened itself out. Since then, Ryan makes sure he's in full control at all times. Ryan enjoys spending time with his family when he's not driving and also enjoys taking his truck to various local truck shows. He wanted to send a big thank you out to his dad for teaching him the driving end as well as the business end of trucking. He said that his dad has always been there when it comes to "turning the wrenches" as well. A big thank you also goes out to his wife, Jennifer who runs the household when he's on the road and makes sure the kids are taken care of as well. Ryan said that she understands that owning and operating your own truck often comes with long hours each day. Pride in his equipment is one rule that Ryan Maston makes sure he follows. He runs his business based on quality service and on time, safe deliveries. If you happen to be driving in the New England area on an upcoming summer day and think that the sun just blinded you, you might be wrong. It could be Ryan Maston and his sun-drenched KW passing by you on the highway. Congratulations go out to Ryan for all of his efforts and for being chosen as the July 2011 Movin'Out Working Show Truck.
