Portland, OR....TEC Equipment, Inc. President and CEO Dave Thompson successfully completed his mission to deliver a team of seven (7) volunteer doctors, nurses and health professionals to Port-au-Prince airport in Haiti. TEC Equipment offered the use of it's jet free of charge to Medical Teams International on Monday, January 18th with costs paid largely by donations from company employees. Arrangements were quickly made and the flight left Aurora, Oregon State Airport at 8:00 AM, Wednesday, January 20th. Aurora, OR is 20 miles south of Portland, OR.

The small, nine-seat Cessna Citation Encore business-class jet stopped to re-fuel in Wellington, KS before completing the first leg of the journey with an overnight stay in Fort Lauderdale, FL. The crew flew from Fort Lauderdale to Port-au-Prince on Thursday morning, January 21st, landing at 9:00 AM Eastern time.

"We are very eager to assist Medical Teams International in their work to help the people of Haiti," said Thompson."“Everyone at TEC Equipment wanted to go beyond simply donating money to Medical Teams International and their relief efforts. We feel our donation of jet transportation is invaluable to their work. The contribution from our employees has been overwhelming."

"The landing went well," said Thompson. "The airport is in bad condition but things are organized and extremely busy. The volunteers from Medical Teams International thanked us for our donation of transport, jumped into a waiting truck and they were off to action."

The team members on the flight consisted of TEC Equipment CEO Dave Thompson as pilot, doctors Marie Angele Theard, Steve Boyer and Bob Gibson, registered nurses Carol Caudle and Kris Repp, health logistics advisor Andrew Davidson and an additional health specialist, plus one co-pilot.

Mr. Thompson had accepted the task of bringing a recently adopted orphan child to her waiting parents in Portland, OR but was unable to make contact with officials in Haiti. "I had to stay with the jet and was not allowed to leave the airport. Without telephones I had no way of reaching anybody to learn more."

Mr. Thompson was able to return with two U.S. citizens and four Haitian children. He will take them to officials waiting at the Fort Lauderdale airport before continuing his return trip to Portland.
