The Circuit Rider

by Robert E. Harris

People Are Helping You, Too

It has been said, and it has been a real experience in the lives of most of us, that the attitude of a man shows up in the altitude he gains.  Attitude and altitude are twins.  My attitude should be – I'm helping people and people are helping me.

Sometimes charity is not charity at all.  Instead it is selfishness in capital letters.  When we spend our time talking about how much we help others we are glorifying ourselves.  When a man is talking of how much he helps another person he is overlooking a great truth, which is, other people are also helping him.

When we zero in on our exploits and we think of all we are doing, we forget the incoming of the help of others into our life.  So it with life.  While we are helping others our attitude should be.  I'm not only helping others, but others are helping me.
