Prayer Is Evident That God Does Exist

One day in another city I was doing some television programming.  In between cuts a man came in, from where I don't know.  He said, "I don't believe in what you are doing. I don't believe there is a God."

"Well," I said, "When I meet a man who doesn't believe in God I always like to take him out and buy him a steak and after we have had our meal, I like to ask him if he believes in the cook."

Then we got into a discussion and I asked, "What is your explanation for the creation of the world and all that is within it and how it works so accurately?"  He gave me the old theory that things just happened.

I said, "Well, suppose I said I believed all that, where did the sun come from?"  He said, "Well, it has just been an ever existing situation."  Then I said, "Sir, that can't be, because of the law of cause and effect."

Then I said, "Sir, you seem to be an honest man, at least do you ever pray?"  To my amazement he answered, "Yes, I pray."  I said, "If there is no God, why do you pray?"

"Well," he answered, "It's a natural instinct."  I replied, "Who put it in there?"  He dropped his head and then looked up at me and said, "I'll see you again, Mr. Harris."

One of the many reasons I believe in God is because He answer prayer.  We should not pray just trying to get God to do our thing.  We should pray and yield ourselves to doing God's things in God's way and for God's glory.  Pray without ceasing, for it is one of the evidences that God is and that He is the rewarder of all who seek Him.
