Trucking Industry Returns for Wreaths Across America in Arlington National Cemetery

ARLINGTON, VA.....Volunteers from the trucking industry recently completed the final leg of the Wreaths Across America project. Waste Management, Inc., the American Trucking Associations and industry volunteers worked to clear the wreaths placed in remembrance to honor our fallen soldiers this past holiday season.

Volunteers arrived in Arlington National Cemetery to begin clearing the wreaths originally laid in December. Their work served as further example that the trucking industry delivers and does its part to clean up.

"Wreaths Across America has been a wonderful opportunity for the industry to come together and spread joy during the holiday season," said Lisa Kardell, Director of Public Affairs, Waste Management.  "We are honored to participate in this event and to be able to help maintain the cemetery in remembrance of our fallen soldiers."

This past December, hundreds of trucks departed from Harrington, Maine carrying deliveries of handmade wreaths as part of the Wreaths Across America program. Wreaths Across America organized volunteers from diverse backgrounds and laid wreaths at various state and national cemeteries. These decorations served to celebrate and honor the sacrifices of American soldiers. By playing a lead role in these ceremonies, trucking companies were able to demonstrate the big-hearted nature of the industry.

Wreaths Across America is a non-profit based out of Harrington, Maine. The organization began the tradition of placing wreaths on the headstones of our Nation's fallen heroes at Arlington National Cemetery during the holidays in 1992 and has placed over 90,000 wreaths with the help of volunteers. www.wreathsacrossamerica.org
