KRTS Wins Mayor's Community Service Award

The trucking industry, National Transportation Week and KRTS Transportation Specialists Inc. were all highlighted in a positive fashion this week when Haldimands Mayor Ken Hewitt presented President of KRTS Kim Richardson with the Mayor's Community Service Award, recognizing the annual "Honk for Hunger Food Drive."

"It is an honour to be recognized by our community for all that the KRTS team and the many volunteers do annually to make the Honk for Hunger a huge success. Over 300,000 people earn their living in the trucking industry and there are so many great causes that the industry play a lead role in" said Richardson when accepting the award.

Since 2005 the KRTS team and hundreds of volunteers have weaved their tractor trailers through the community collecting over 120,000 lbs. of food for the food bank. The event is held during National Transportation Week bringing awareness to the general public of the transportation industry.
