Grain Valley, MO....While most high school juniors spent the past nine months at school enjoying friends and other activities, one amazing girl instead ran more than 3,000 miles across the United States, all in the name of a friend who died of cancer without health insurance.

 Jasmine Jordan, known as "Jazzy," crossed the finish line Tuesday, June 15, in New York City in front of ABC Studios in Times Square.

 She has endured foot injuries, intense heat, freezing rain, and even at one point was involved in a car collision. Along the way, she has received honors in every town from mayors, police and firefighters, and most recently from the White House. Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood praised her and her family in his blog, calling her a hero and the youngest to ever achieve this goal.

 She does it all to raise awareness of the St. Christopher Truckers Development and Relief Fund, a 501(c)(3), not-for-profit organization that provides financial assistance to professional truck drivers who have medical problems and who cannot otherwise afford healthcare. St. Christopher also conducts health research to benefit professional drivers and the trucking industry.

 The Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association (OOIDA) has been a sponsor of the St. Christopher Fund in the past and continues its support in the name of Jazzy as she nears her goal of reaching New York City.

Jazzy is the daughter of Lee and Paulette Jordan who own a small trucking business in Dalton, Minn.

She started her run in California in September 2009, and her father escorted her in their pick-up truck. Daily updates appear on her Facebook fan page detailing her progress. She did all of this while still keeping up with homework.
