WIT Board Member Receives Community Service Award

 

 

 

Plover, WI....Women In Trucking Board Member, Jayne Gunn, is the recipient of the 2010 MicroSkill's Community Service Award.  The award was created to recognize an individual who has demonstrated commitment to improving the quality of life for people in the community, especially women and minorities.

Kay Blair, Executive Director of the MicroSkills Board of Directors, notified Gunn, "we are pleased to recognize your dedication in supporting the participants of our Women in Transportation program to develop the skills they need to succeed within the transportation industry."  

  "I am honored to receive this award," said Gunn, "and I am thankful that my efforts to improve the lives of women through providing support and opportunities within the trucking industry have proven to be helpful."  Gunn serves at the Secretary of Women In Trucking Association, Inc. and has served on the board of directors since its beginning in 2007.  Gunn works as a recruiting specialist for Sunbury Transportation in Mississauga, Ontario.

 Community MicroSkills Development Centre (www.microskills.ca)  is a multi-cultural, non-profit, community-based organization committed to assisting the unemployed, with priority to women, racial minorities, youth and immigrants.  The organization is located in Etobicoke, Ontario.

Women In Trucking (www.WomeninTrucking.org) was established to encourage the employment of women in the trucking industry, promote their accomplishments and minimize obstacles faced by women working in the trucking industry.
