Amstan's "Spot Light Driver"
|
Who is Russ Robinson? Russ served in the Marine Corps from 1968—1971 and was stationed in Vietnam as a radio telegraph operator in the 26th Marine Division. Shortly after, Russ started his driving career in 1974. His father and brother both drove a truck and taught Russ how to drive (diesel fuel runs in their family). His first driving position was for GM— hauling cars. Through the years he has worked for various companies: Strimbu, McNicholas Trucking, ACB Trucking, Matlock, Triton Transport and Express Leasing. He has pulled Automobile Carriers, Dry Vans, Reefers, Flatbeds, Tankers and Rail Trailers hauling everything from general commodities, produce, steel, and automobiles to Hazardous Materials. In August of 2005, Russ signed on with Amstan as an Owner-Operator and has been driving for us ever since. When Russ is off the road he likes to spend time with his family. He has been married to his wife, Vicki for 34 years and they have 2 children, Stacey Lynn and Marshall John. They also have a granddaughter who is 3 years old named Riley Elizabeth Curd. In his spare time he likes to watch NASCAR, and keep up with college and NFL football. What advice does Russ give to other drivers on keeping it safe on the road? Russ said that a truck driver once told him "If another driver does something wrong to you out on the road —just remember that two wrongs don't make it right. Put the situation behind you, keep your head clear, forget about it and go on." Russ said that this advice has helped him a lot in his driving career especially with so much road rage on our nation’s highways these days. Russ said that he likes Amstan because we get him home every weekend, which means a lot to him. Dispatch and Safety say that Russ is very easy going, courteous and an all around good representative of Amstan Logistics. His logs are always neat and complete and he delivers his loads on time safely. All of us at Amstan Logistics would like to say "Thank You Russ" for 5 years of dedication and service, your commitment to safe driving and excellent work ethic.
