Top-Paying Marten Transport Adds Hefty Layover Pay

MONDOVI, WI....Marten Transport, which has been certified by an independent transportation institute as a top paying carrier, has boosted its pay package even more by increasing its layover pay.

"We don't want our drivers to have to worry about a layover," says Marten's Director of Recruiting, Tim Norlin. "But when it's necessary, Marten wants to ensure that our drivers are fairly compensated for their time."

Effective immediately, Marten is paying $100 per day for layovers, strengthening the company's already industry-leading pay.  Recently, the National Transportation Institute, which provides accurate and authoritative mission critical benchmarks to truckload carriers, recently completed its annual National Driver Wages Survey.

The institute found Marten Transport, listed among Forbes "200 Best Small Companies in America," as one of the nation's best for total compensation packages.

Marten Transport has spent the last two years in a growth mode despite an industry downturn. The carrier has opened numerous new terminals and expanded its regional network to better serve customers and accommodate more driver-friendly schedules.

"Increasing layover pay is just another way Marten shows how very committed we are to keeping driver pay strong despite economic challenges," says Norlin. "In my opinion, there's just no other carrier as dedicated to driver prosperity as we are. Drivers are more than worth it to us."

The company is opening yet another new terminal in Phoenix, Ariz. this summer and has opportunities open now for experienced drivers.
