Georgia Commuters Vote on Tax
Voters in and around Atlanta recently voted on a proposition to increase sales tax by a penny with the goal of raising $18 billion for transportation projects. The proposition would increase the sales tax for 10 years to fund 157 projects in 10 counties. In 2010, Atlanta had the fourth-worst commute in the United States, with drivers taking an average of 30 minutes to get to or from work, according to Associated Press citing the 2010 U.S. census.
