West Fargo, ND… E.W. Wylie Corporation recently named driver Kevin Widmer as its 2011 Company Driver of the Year. Widmer was chosen for this prestigious award out of hundreds of other E.W. Wylie drivers throughout the country. Each year, company drivers are evaluated based on their number of miles; driver scorecard, including idle time, miles-per-gallon, claims, preventable accidents, revenue miles and traffic violations; and their character.

 “Winning this award makes me feel like I’ve ‘arrived’,” said Widmer, who started working for E.W. Wylie over four years ago after finishing driving school. “It means a lot that people view me as a quality professional driver who can be counted on and represent the company the way they want me to.”

The North Dakota-native decided to become a professional driver as a second career. He enjoys the independence the job brings and particularly the fact that his work with E.W. Wylie allows him to travel throughout the United States and Canada.

 “My wife, Barbara, knows how hard I’ve worked and what we’ve sacrificed for this and she’s so excited about this accomplishment,” said Widmer, who received a brand new truck for being named Driver of the Year. “I’m grateful that E.W. Wylie gave me the opportunity. I couldn’t have gotten this far without the people who do what they do behind the scenes to keep drivers like me moving on the road.”

Company driver Carl Bjugstad was named runner up for this year’s award. Bjugstad, who has driven for the company for nearly two decades, says there is no better place to drive than E.W. Wylie.

“The company has been in business since 1938. They know what they’re doing and I’m glad to be here,” said Bjugstad. “I like what I haul and where Wylie takes me.”
