Con-way Truckload Announces Drivers of the Month for July 2012
JOPLIN, MO… Con-way Truckload, a full truckload carrier and subsidiary of Con-way Inc. announced its July Drivers of the Month.
“We congratulate these drivers and thank them for their dedication and professionalism,” said Saul Gonzalez, chief operating officer, Con-way Truckload. “They have all shown exemplary commitment to the highest levels of safety and service for our customers, and they couldn’t be more deserving of this honor.”
The following drivers were recognized by the company:
Contractor Driver of the Month: William Coffman
“Take your time and pay attention. Keep focused on what is around you,” William Coffman advises. He enjoys the freedom driving brings. “This is just something I always wanted to do,” he recalls. Coffman started driving professionally in 1973 and joined Con-way Truckload in 1999. He resides in Stockbridge, Ga., with his wife, Nancy. They have four children and five grandchildren. In his spare time, he likes to go fishing.
Company Driver of the Month: Tim Hicks
Tim Hicks has been a professional truck driver since 1992. His advice to other drivers is simple: “Slow down, set your cruise control to 62 and let others pass you.” Hicks resides in Laredo, Texas with his wife, Betsy. They have three children and two grandchildren. Hicks loves spending time with his family and watching NASCAR when he is not behind the wheel.
Company Team of the Month: David Jacobs & Katherine Caldwell
David Jacobs has driven professionally for 14 years and began working for Con-way Truckload in 2009. “My parents were truck drivers, so I grew up around the profession,” he states. Katherine Caldwell started her driving career when she joined the company in 2010. “I’ve always been fascinated with big trucks and wanted to give this career a try,” she says. “We love seeing the sites and being able to visit with family all across the U.S.,” they say. The couple resides in Pensacola, Fla., and has three children. In their free time they enjoy online gaming.
Contractor Team of the Month: Jim & Dianna McLean
“Slow down and enjoy what you do,” Jim and Dianna McLean advise. “We love the ever-changing surroundings we experience daily out here on the road,” they add. The McLeans joined Con-way Truckload in 2007 and reside in Crystal River, Fla. They have eight children and 12 grandchildren. When they’re not on the road they enjoy relaxing and working on their farm.
The following drivers achieved the significant career milestone of reaching three, two and one million miles driven for Con-way Truckload:
Three million: Richard Primmer of Spokane Valley, Wash.
Two million: Wallace Rowan of Las Cruces, N.M.
One million: Torrie McCosh of Rose Hill, Kan., and David Turner of Lee’s Summit, Mo.
