Crete Carrier Receives Twentieth Annual "Salute To Business" Award
Crete Carrier recently was named the recipient for the twentieth annual “Salute to Business” award. The award has been given to Crete for the outstanding vision, dedication, and commitment to the city and citizens of Lincoln, Nebraska.
Crete Carrier Corporation has been a fixture in Nebraska for nearly 50 years. Duane Acklie started the company as a small business in 1966 and nearly 50 years later it’s grown to serve 48 states and employ more than 6,000 people.
Tonn Ostergard, president and CEO of the company, said, “Starting in Crete, Nebraska with 50 trucks to today we have over 5,000 trucks. So we’ve had a nice steady growth over the years and we’re fortunate enough to have great people in our organization.”
Crete Carrier is the twentieth company to be handpicked for this award by the combined rotary clubs of Lincoln.
Jim Smith, who serves as a committee chair, said, “We think of the values not only to Lincoln, Nebraska, and to the state of Nebraska, but to the entire country for all the employees that they have all over the country.”
The pride could be felt around the room, especially for Crete Carrier’s employees. They said even though they’ve grown a lot, the only direction they’re going is up.
And it’s because of the community’s unending support.
“Lincoln and Nebraska are tremendous contributors to our success,” said Ostergard. “The people and the communities we’re so fortunate to be apart of.”
Additionally, Governor Heineman was there for the luncheon. He officially declared March 27th, Duane Acklie Day in honor of his company and his contributions
