TRUCKERS SHINE FOR MIRACLE KIDS AT THE 23rd ANNUAL TRUCKERS' DAY AT THE BUCK

By Robert Conrad
Buck Motorsports Park, located in Quarryville, PA just outside of the Lancaster city limits, is known for hosting some of the most exciting truck pulling and high-horsepowered events in the state. For the past 23 years in mid-August they have held Truckers' Day at The Buck as a benefit event for The Children's Miracle Network and the Hershey Medical Center.
Saturday August 18th was the date for the 2012 version of this event, which has grown into one of the biggest truck shows in the country. One thing is for sure; truckers have big hearts and tend to rally in force for a good cause, and this benefit for The Children's Miracle Network is just that. The Children's Miracle Network Hospitals exist to provide comfort, treatment, and hope to millions of sick kids and the Trucker's Day at The Buck show has raised over $225,000.00 on their behalf.
A steady convoy of polished working trucks rolled in all day long and by late afternoon the showfield was packed with over 300 custom rigs. Row after row of gleaming working rigs gave the spectators plenty to see and the day was filled With many other events in addition to the show & shine competition. The truck driving challenge saw drivers compete on a course designed to show off their driving skills and safety techniques. In addition, there were a number of vendors at the show selling everything from chrome goodies to die-cast truck replicas. A number of games kept the kids happy including the always-popular moon bounce. As in years past, the benefit auction was also a big part of the show and the bidding was fierce on a wide variety of great items. The show continued right into the evening with the parade of the show & shine winners being followed by the NTPA Championship Semi-Truck Pulling Series truck pulls.
The Children's Miracle Network would like to thank the drivers, sponsors, and volunteers that helped make the 2012 Trucker's For Miracle Kids show a resounding success. This show continues to grow each year and it should be even bigger in 2013.
