Kwik Trip Chooses Blue Tree Systems
Roanoke, VA… Blue Tree Systems, Inc. a provider of trailer tracking, reefer monitoring and fleet management solutions, today announced that Kwik Trip, Inc., the operator of more than 400 convenience stores in three states, has selected its latest R:COM temperature management solution for the fleet of over 150 multi-temp delivery vehicles operated by its subsidiary Convenience Transportation, LLC. The latest Blue Tree Systems technology upgrades and complements the yard management solution in place at the company for the past seven years, providing greater visibility and quality control on each delivery and leading to enhanced product safety and a reduction in the potential for lost cargo incidents.
“Kwik Trip is unique in the convenience store industry because we maintain total quality control over a wide variety of products by producing and packaging these items in our own state-of-the-art facilities,” said Chuck Trivett of the Zone and Fresh Departments at Kwik Trip. “Food safety is essential during the transportation and distribution of our products so we adopted Blue Tree’s solutions because they are flexible enough to allow us to ensure quality in our yard and on the road, preventing cargo damage and enhancing customer satisfaction.”
Blue Tree has been Kwik Trip’s preferred provider of temperature management solutions since 2005 when it adopted the first generation Blue Tree RF Yard Reefer Management system. KwikTrip made the decision to upgrade to Blue Tree’s latest temperature management solution, the cellular R:COM platform, in order to monitor temperatures in its three-compartment multi-temp trailers at five-minute intervals.
At Kwik Trip, the R:COM solution is providing accurate temperature data from the company’s Thermo King and Carrier refrigeration units. Information provided that is essential to maintaining product integrity includes temperature set point, return air and alarm notifications. R:COM allows Kwik Trip’s managers to view live and historical temperature data and to share that information with food safety agencies and customers if required.
“Kwik Trip’s positive experience with Blue Tree R:COM Temperature Management systems is behind their decision to adopt our newest technology,” said L. T. "Chip" Powell, director of US operations at Blue Tree Systems. “The management and staff at Kwik Trip have always been dedicated to providing high quality products backed by excellent customer service. R:COM is the technology that allows Kwik Trip to ensure that this goal is achieved throughout the entire distribution process.”
Headquartered in La Crosse, Wisconsin and founded in 1965, family-owned Kwik Trip, Inc. operates over 400 stores under the Kwik Trip, Kwik Star, Hearty Platter and Tobacco Outlet Plus names throughout Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa. The company has its own Bakery, Commissary, Dairy and Distribution Warehouse. Convenience Transportation, consisting of Grocery, Petroleum and Fresh Delivery departments, delivers store merchandise, including dry, fresh and frozen goods in multi-temp trailers, as well as petroleum products. The fleet of 150 vehicles travels over 18 million miles annually in the three-state area.
