Dale Cody Barkley, Jr. of Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania passed away on November 11, 2012 at his home due to an accident. He was 65 years old.
Dale was a friend to many Professional Truck Drivers in the Slippery Rock and Harrisville, PA areas. He loved driving truck and was an excellent mechanic. His CB handle was “Mopar.” Dale enjoyed helping people, spending time with his family and working in his garage. He was a Professional Truck Driver for over 40 years, doing dump, tank and a little flatbed work. Dale bought his first truck in 1977 and sold his last truck in 2005.
Dale always took excellent care of his trucks. He “took pride in his ride” and cleaned his trucks every weekend. Dale’s trucks were so clean that his Kenworth was used in Movin’ Out’s “Beauty And The Beast” contest in the early 1980s. His Western Star was featured on the cover of All-Pro’s glossy sales brochure in the 1990s. Dale and his truck were also featured in Movin’ Out during National Truck Driver Appreciation Week.
Dale was most recently employed as a tank driver by Erie Enterprises, Inc. He was a safe and conscientious driver and received several safe-driving awards from all-Pro Transport, Inc. and Page Transportation, Inc.
Dale Barkley is survived by his loving wife Sue Barkley, daughter Michelle Barkley, son and daughter-in-law CJ and Julie Barkley, a grandson, Cody Lawrence Barkley; four grandnieces, who were like grandchildren to him, Ashley S. McClymonds, Brittany L. Hays, Carlee R. McClymonds and Delaney R. McClymonds; as well as many other family members and good friends.
