PreLube™ Now Available For Trucks
By Steve Pollock
PreLube™, the engine pre and post oiler is now available for Class 6,7 and 8 trucks. Manufacturer RPM Industries has been supplying the PreLube™ system to the heavy equipment industry for 25 years. Most off-road machinery must be serviced in the field, including oil changes. That is why RPM Industries designed the PreLube™ to oil the engine before starting, continue oiling the engine after shut down and with the optional Quickevac System, change the oil in just a few minutes. It is part of RPM’s “pert” process – purge, evacuate refill and timestamp.

Here is how the process works:
Utilizing an electronically driven pump motor the PreLube™ System builds pressure to 4 psi, pushing oil throughout all the chambers of the engine, including bearings and turbo, before the engine is started. An added bonus is that after an oil change the oil filter will automatically prime itself during the pre-lube process. The post oil works through the same pump but a different electronic module, pumping oil through the engine, bearings and turbo after the engine is turned off. The amount of time for post-oiling can be programmed. Instead of idling until the turbo and engine temperatures cools, drivers can shut off their truck, saving fuel while the post oiler continues to lubricate and cool the engine and turbo, substantially reducing carbon scorching in the turbocharger.
A great option for the DIY oil change is the QuickEvac™ connector. A special fitting is installed and connected by a 10 ft. hose. Engage the pump in evac-mode and the truck’s oil is evacuated in about one minute, when the button is pressed on the evac hose nozzle. Another benefit is pushing more dirty oil out the engine and having all the oil evacuated out of the oil filter as well. The QuickEvac™ option completely eliminates the need to crawl under the truck to do an oil change.
All RPM Industries products carry a 1-year warranty with a less than 1% pump failure rate. Most units will easily last the life of the vehicle and can be transferred from one vehicle to another. If you have a little mechanical inclination, installation can be done at home in about 5-6 hours. Some studies have shown that up to 70% of engine wear occurs at startup before oil pressure has thoroughly lubed the engine. RPM Industries PreLube™ effectively eliminates “dry starts”.
