OOIDA To Celebrate 40th Anniversary
Grain Valley, MO… The Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association, OOIDA, has set a date of Oct. 18-19, 2013 to celebrate its 40th anniversary at the Kansas Speedway. The Heart of America Trucking Show will be open to members, non-members and the public.
Mike Schermoly, OOIDA marketing director, says more details about the event will be released in the next coming weeks.
“We wanted to get the word out as soon as possible so that the trucking community can save the date,” he said. “Forty years of representing professional truck drivers is a milestone that gives our members and friends a great reason to celebrate,” said Schermoly. “We are pleased to be able to hold the event here in Kansas City at an exceptional venue in a world class motorsports facility like the Kansas Speedway.”
Attendees can plan on a weekend of gatherings, education, contests, truck beauty competitions, concerts, food, vendors and all-around good fun in celebrating the Association’s 40 years of fighting for the rights of truckers.
The location for the celebration, the Kansas Speedway, annually hosts national NASCAR events, which includes two NASCAR Sprint Cup Series events. The speedway is located at the intersection of I-435 and I-70 in Kansas City, KS, about 15 miles west of downtown Kansas City and less than an hour west of OOIDA’s Grain Valley, MO, headquarters.
OOIDA was founded in 1973 and has grown into an association with more than 150,000 members, most of whom own and drive their own long haul commercial trucks. Over the decades, OOIDA has successfully represented the interests of truck drivers and small-business truckers in regulatory, legislative and court-related issues.
