Working Show Truck Of The Month – Rolane Transportation/Neal & Josh Spiegel
By Robert Conrad
As the summer of 2013 rolls into August, Movin' Out is featuring a company that's still rolling full speed ahead on the roads of New England, as they celebrate their 20th anniversary in business.
&Waste Services Inc. are the proud owners of this month's Working Show truck-a spotless 2004 Peterbilt 357 Extended hood roll-off. This truck is no "garage queen" as it delivers and picks up dumpsters on a daily basis to both commercial & residential locations. Rolane's polished Peterbilt has plenty of power to pick up any load of debris thanks to the C-15 single turbo 475 CAT engine that's paired with an 8LL transmission and a set of 52,000 lb rears. Despite having over 326,000 miles on it, Rolane's roll-off looks like it just rolled off of the Peterbilt assembly line!
The truck is driven by Josh Spiegel; whose father Neal Spiegel founded the company back in 1993 with just one truck. Now, 20 years later, Rolane is going strong with 18 trucks in addition to the roll-off unit. Rolane's trucks haul general freight but the idea for the roll-off business came to life in 2007. Neal Spiegel bought the truck and Josh has been running it ever since.
The truck has been customized from front to back and now picks up the trash in style thanks to a long list of modifications. Up front there's an 18" Texas square bumper trimmed with lights, a 13&1/2" drop visor, and both front & back air cleaner lights. The truck also features "Aussie Cut" exhaust stacks, train horns, painted door visors over the windows, and a custom rear light bar with extra mud flaps. The truck is just as nice on the inside thanks to air ride seating (including a Legacy low driver's seat), woodgrain steering wheel and shifter knob, and a number of custom, polished trim pieces.
Josh Spiegel is only 30 years old but has already been driving for over 12 years. He said that his most memorable experience was hitting the road for the very first time. He's been hooked ever since that first day behind the wheel! Josh wanted to thank a number of people for his success in trucking. Firstly, his dad for starting the company and everything he's done for him. Josh also thanks his wife Niccole for her patience and letting him get the truck ready for the various truck shows he attends. Josh also said that he really enjoys the days when his son Braeden rides co-pilot with him in the truck. He also wanted to mention his brother Matt, his friends Richie & Mike for all of their help, and Matt from Beaucaire Equipment for helping him customize the truck.
Rolane Transportation & Waste Services Inc. shows that a small, family-run business can still succeed thru hard work and dependable service. Josh Spiegel takes a lot of pride in his dad's Peterbilt roll-off and represents the company with class. We at Movin' Out would like to salute Neal & Josh Spiegel and Rolane Transportation & Waste Services Inc. for all of their efforts as our August pick for Working Show Truck of the Month. Here's hoping Rolane keeps on rolling for generations to come!
