SmartPhoneTrucker.com Selects Three Organizations for Non-Profit Support Initiative
Burlington, VT… SmartPhoneTrucker.com has chosen three nonprofit organizations to receive a portion of the company’s revenue as part of an ongoing campaign called “Let’s Do Something Good.” The organizations chosen are CURE Childhood Cancer, which is dedicated to conquering childhood cancer through funding research and support of patients and their families; Hope For The Warriors, whose mission is to enhance quality of life for U.S. service members and their families nationwide who have been adversely affected by injuries or death in the line of duty; and the Women in Trucking Scholarship Foundation;, which provides scholarships for members looking to advance their careers in the trucking industry.
SmartPhoneTrucker is a website/mobile app combination that lets drivers search for jobs by zip code. The company gives 2.5% of its revenue to nonprofits, and driver votes determine where half of that money goes.
“Part of our mission at SmartPhoneTrucker is to help lower driver turnover by offering drivers a tool to find carriers with freight and hometime where they live,” said John Carter, Vice President of Operations at SmartPhoneTrucker. “We wanted to extend that worthy goal by sharing our revenue with a select group of nonprofits. The three organizations currently featured on our website represent the highest standards for nonprofits.”
Motor carriers that advertise on the site determine which organizations receive half of the donations. Votes from drivers determine where the other fifty percent of the money goes. Drivers can vote by clicking here to visit the SmartPhoneTrucker Charity Page, and they can use links on that page to visit each nonprofit’s website directly.
"The Women in Trucking Foundation's mission is to provide scholarships for our members,” said Ellen Voie, President/CEO of Women in Trucking. “SmartPhoneTrucker will help us fund this new effort. We are especially thrilled to be one of the charities supported by an application that helps professional drivers work out a schedule that meets both professional and personal needs, which aligns with the goal to see a more driver friendly environment, for men and women!"
“All of the nonprofits chosen are great organizations that get high marks for fiscal responsibility,” adds Carter. “This means that donations are used wisely and for the purposes the donors intend.”
SmartPhoneTrucker is the original driver recruiting website/mobile app combination that offers drivers a job search tool based on the zip code where they live. The site currently has almost 400,000 driver jobs and offers free mobile apps for Android, Blackberry and iPhone.
