Waterbury CT… For over ten years, Oil Purification Systems, Inc., (OPS) a leader in fluid filtration technology, has suggested that you  ”change your thinking not your oil TM”.   By accepting what scientists have known since 1917, that oil does not breakdown mechanically it only becomes contaminated, then taking the necessary steps to remove the contamination our customers are reaping the rewards; Lower oil maintenance costs, Increased engine longevity, Less waste and Increased PROFITS.

 By improving upon the basic By Pass filter systems that remove solid contaminants effectively, OPS has designed, manufactured and marketed products that remove both solid and liquid contaminants from motor oil while you drive.  This allows drivers to safely extend oil change intervals, lowering their costs, while improving engine function and longevity.
OPS developed its flagship product, the OPS-1TM, in 2002, armed with the scientific fact that oil, if kept clean, does not breakdown mechanically-- it merely becomes contaminated as it lubricates an engine.  This two-stage system first filtered out solid contaminants utilizing a canister filter, then evaporated the liquid contaminants (Water, Diesel Fuel, Glycol) using a patented technology that separated these contaminants from the oil to more effectively evaporate. Removing the contaminants decreased the need for periodic oil changes and allowed clients to change their oil with a condition based program utilizing oil sampling.

The feedback from customers was extremely positive.  Almost all reported excellent improvement in oil life with most oil changes being extended to over 200,000 miles. 

Not willing to rest on its success, OPS is always listening to our customers and working to improve the product and ultimately the results. There were numerous requests for a spin on filter to make filter changes easier and faster.  The result was an entirely new product, the ECO-PURTM On- Board Oil Refining System.  The new design not only changed the filter to a spin on design with a micro-glass element, but also placed both the filtration and the evaporation systems in one unit that included built in brackets and metering devices. The ECO-PUR reduced installation time and decreased the length of oil lines required for pressurized intake and gravity return of clean oil.  The new compact design also allowed flexibility in the size of the filter elements (10”, 8”, 6” or 4”) to match the desired preventive maintenance program. The 10-inch filter would require a 25,000-mile change for a class 8 tractor; an 8-inch filter would require a 20,000 interval etc.   Customers are now able to tailor the program to meet other PM needs, lubrication, inspections etc.

The ECO-PUR System is available for all internal combustion engines and is supplied with installation kits for the specific engine application. The kit is all-inclusive and allows flexibility to install in a variety of under the hood locations and oil intake and return ports. After the installation, the oil maintenance program can be handled by the driver or any mechanic that can change a spin on filter and draw an oil sample from the sampling valve attached to the ECO-PUR control unit.  If you drive over the road and use the 10 “ filters you will change ECO-PUR filters every 25,000 miles, draw an oil sample and send it to independent accredited lab in the PREPAID mailer provided.  Within 48 hrs after sample is received at the lab you will receive the results via email for review. If oil quality is within guidelines including, viscosity, additive package chemicals, acid protection, oxidation and nitration you continue to the next 25,000-mile maintenance.  If there are any issues with oil and or engine wear etc. the lab lists causes and potential corrective measures.  If oil reaches a level of unacceptable contamination, the recommendation to change oil will be issued. This oil sampling adds tremendous value to the program and has saved many engines from premature failure from glycol, fuel intrusions etc.  by repairing minor defects before they become major ones.

In the past ten years many companies have entered the market only to close up after a year or two because they did not listen to the most important people-- the owners and drivers using their products.  OPS grew steadily over the years by listening and adapting its products to meet the needs and expectations of our clients and providing the best customer service possible.
