Celebrating Truckers at the Walcott Truckers Jamboree

WALCOTT, IOWA -- The World’s Largest Truckstop celebrated America’s truckers last week in a big way with the 33rd Annual Walcott Truckers Jamboree. Held July 12-13, the event hosted over 31,000 drivers and their families as well as local residents. Visitors came from 21 different states and Canada.
During the two days, guests enjoyed over 175 exhibits; a Super Truck Beauty Contest with 80 contestants; a huge antique truck display featuring over 200 vehicles; delicious Iowa pork chop cookout; Trucker Olympics; Carnival Games; a 100th birthday party for trucks at the Iowa 80 Trucking Museum, free concerts by country music artists Randy Houser and James Wesley; a fireworks display and loads of fun!
“The Walcott Truckers Jamboree celebrates trucking,” said Heather DeBaillie, Iowa 80 Truckstop’s marketing director. “We do all of this to say thank you to drivers who work hard every day delivering the goods we need. The Walcott Truckers Jamboree is also a great opportunity for us to showcase the trucking industry to the general public.”
The Walcott Truckers Jamboree has been celebrating truckers, rain or shine, since 1979, though there was a little rain this year, it certainly wasn’t enough to put the brakes on the festivities. “The Walcott Truckers Jamboree is an event that celebrates trucking. We appreciate the professional driver and all they do to keep America moving. We hope this event conveys that.” says Delia Moon Meier, Iowa 80 Truckstop Senior Vice President.
Next year’s Walcott Truckers Jamboree will be a 3-day event and held Thursday-Saturday, July 11- 13, 2013.
