UTi Sammons Named a Top-20 Fleet: Trade Group Honors UTi Trucking Subsidiary for Supporting Drivers
LONG BEACH, Calif., Feb. 9, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- UTi Worldwide (Nasdaq:UTIW) today announced that its subsidiary, Sammons Trucking, has been named by the Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) one of the 20 North American trucking companies that provide the best workplace experiences.
The TCA's fourth annual Best Fleets to Drive For designation was awarded to for-hire fleets with 10 or more trucks that provide the best driver compensation, training, and safety programs, among other criteria. Candidate carriers are nominated by their drivers and undergo a rigorous evaluation process.
"Being nominated by our drivers and selected by the TCA tells our clients that their freight is in good hands," said Tim Burke, Sammons president. "It means that our clients get on-time pickup and delivery, honest value, and the highest standards of quality and safety."
Burke noted that Sammons drivers are all contracted owner-operators, which enables Sammons to scale up easily to meet customer needs. "We keep our drivers busy, we pay them accurately and on time, and we support their development," he said. "In return, they deliver for us and our clients."
