Speedco Charity Golf Outing Raises $60,000 for Make-A-Wish®
Speedco FORE Wishes teammates, volunteers and golfers raised $60,000
for Make-A-Wish® Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana on June 13, 2013.
Wish Kid Matt received tips from Greg Kyte, Speedco General Manager
and six-time Long Drive World Championship Finalist.
Speedco, Inc. raised $60,000 for Make-A-Wish at its third bi-annual Speedco FORE Wishes golf tournament June 13. The original goal of raising $500,000 for the nonprofit was set in 2006, and was surpassed at this year’s golf outing, which raised $60,000.
In addition to a day spent golfing in the name of charity, Speedco teammates and friends were also joined by Matt, a 9-year-old wish child, and his family. Speedco surprised Matt by helping to grant his wish to go to Atlantis, Paradise Island later this summer and also gave him some associated wish enhancements to enjoy.
Matt had the honors of the first tee-off, with tips from Greg Kyte, six-time Long Drive World Championship Finalist and General Manager at Speedco. A total of 24 teams made their way through the golf course, and at each hole were greeted by photos of other wish children Speedco has met throughout the course of their alliance with Make-A-Wish.
Golfers had many opportunities to donate to Make-A-Wish with unique challenges on the course, such as employing Greg Kyte to drive the ball down the fairway for the teams that played a scramble game.
In addition to the golf outing, participants also bid in a silent auction that included, among other items, a Dale Earnhardt Jr. autographed helmet and Indianapolis Colts Suite tickets.
The $60,000 raised at Speedco FORE Wishes benefits Speedco’s local Make-A-Wish® chapter, which serves Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. All are welcome to participate in Speedco’s commitment to Make-A-Wish by donating at any Speedco location.
